Quarantine has already closed 147 educational establishments in the Lviv region. Quarantine closures of schools and kindergartens that are currently in operation are projected to be closed.

Doctors say that the peak of seasonal respiratory viral illnesses and flu is now observed in Lviv region. As of February 3, 12663 patients turned to doctors a week. For comparison, in the previous week the number of patients was less by 3219 people. This information was provided by O. Kohut, Deputy Head of the Regional Laboratory Center in Lviv region.

Reported Reporter Lviv 60% of the sick are children. The number of patients in whom the disease becomes severe has increased. During the week, 439 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 249 compared to the previous week. Among the graduates, 2/3 are children.

Mr. Kohut stated that the epidemiological threshold was already higher than the tolerable 3.4%. It is observed in 11 districts of Lviv region, the vast majority of patients are in Boryslav, Sambir, Brody district.

The epidemiologist has expressed concern about the rapid increase in the number of patients. Of particular concern is the fact that bad weather conditions contribute to a faster spread of pathogens. People do not dress in the weather, soak their feet, often visit places of mass gathering of people to warm up. O. Kohut emphasizes the importance of taking preventative measures to avoid getting SARS or the flu.

Swine flu is particularly circulating this year, which often causes serious complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis. In a regional laboratory of 132 samples, 13 cases of H1N1 influenza were detected.
